Normann Copenhagen proudly introduces Fold Lounge Chair design by Ole Petter Wullum

REFINED GEOMETRIC LINES AND EASY COMFORT UNITE IN AN UNCONVENTIONAL LOUNGE CHAIR DESIGN

Normann Copenhagen proudly introduces Fold Lounge Chair, a comfortable and remarkably unconventional lounge chair designed by Norwegian designer Ole Petter Wullum. Designed with the goal of making something complex appear very simple, Fold merges a strong, bold character with a minimalist geometric expression.

The idea for Fold Lounge Chair arose when a simple piece of paper was cut and folded to resemble a chair, resulting in a unique, unprecedented design. Designer Ole Petter Wullum elaborates: “My initial sketch was a simple piece of paper easily folded into a chair. The most sympathetic and unique thing about this sketch was that you immediately understood the shape and why it had become that way. So simple yet still full of character”.

By reducing the concept of a chair to the bare minimum, Fold introduces new perspectives to modern lounge chairs with its straight, folded edges.

The chair’s silhouette is shaped by five simple folded lines, seamlessly integrating a tilted back and armrests that recline slightly with bodily movement, infusing the design with expression and comfort. “Careful angulation of the back and armrests allows the chair to open up, extending its arms towards the user in a friendly, welcoming gesture, giving it a dynamic and sculptural expression,” explains Ole Petter Wullum.

The materiality of Fold Lounge Chair is chosen to retain the visual quality of the paper which inspired its design. Refined geometric lines are paired with a comfortable, full upholstery surface, blending formality with relaxation. Its architectural expression and sculptural lines make it adaptable to a diversity of settings, either seamlessly integrating with the architecture or standing out as a statement piece
