Beckmans presents a design collaboration with Sweden’s foremost furniture producers during Stockholm Design Week
See the exhibition Room Service at Superellipsen, Sergels torg, 9-13 February.
At a time when work and play merge and we need to co-exist in the same space and take a new look at the room and remake/remodel, we present the exhibition Room Service – six products developed in a collaboration between the final-year students at the Product Design programme and Dux, Gärsnäs, Johanson Design, Kinnarps, Källemo and Storängen Design.
“We are very happy for the opportunity to once again collaborate with prominent Swedish design companies in this project. Every edition of the project presents new opportunities and challenges, not least this year with the ongoing pandemic, but just like previous editions, the design companies have generously contributed with their time and expertise, making this such a valuable collaborative experiences for the students,” says Morgan Rudberg, senior lecturer at Form and responsible for the course.
Exhibition in the heart of Stockholm February 8-13
For this project, the students have worked in teams of two with their respective design companies, which in turn challenged them with a brief. The students have since worked closely with the companies, throughout the design process, to realize their ideas. The result is the six furniture prototypes that we show in the exhibition Room Service in the Superellipse at Sergels torg in the heart of Stockholm The prototypes are displayed together with the visual concept developed for the exhibition by a group of students in the programme Visual Communication.
During Stockholm Design Week, the location Superellipsen works as a mini-version of the Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair as the situation created the opportunity to join forces with Stockholm’s two other design universities – Konstfack and Malmstens which exhibit along side us.
