Thomas Sandell is one of Scandinavia’s most respected architects and designers. He has previously created acclaimed furniture for Offecct, in the form of a sofa, a chair and an acoustic panel. This time, the ambition was a chair for restaurants and conferences.

Initially, Thomas Sandell considered creating a kind of hybrid between a bentwood wiener chair and an armchair. The wood was eventually replaced by steel pipes. In any event, the focus was on long sittings.
– Contour represents two trends that have become increasingly evident in recent years, says Thomas Sandell. We spend more and more time at the dinner table. In restaurants as well as at home in the kitchen. And we appreciate public places that make us feel at home.

The armchair, which signals high quality, is highly comfortable and hugs the user, hence the name. Contour does however not necessarily need to be placed at a table, if the designer is to be believed.
– Contour is suitable in lounges and lobbies. Not to mention the hotel’s conference department. This is a multi-functional armchair

With the armchair Contour the long and successful collaboration between Offecct and Thomas Sandell continues. Previous design for Offecct; King easy chair, 2008 and Soundwave® Ceramic acoustic panel 2017.

Sandell has received numerous awards and realized many prestigious commissions nationally and internationally.Thomas Sandell is a Swedish architect and designer, renowned for furniture design, interiors and several major buildings. He graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in 1990 in architecture. That was also the year he started his own company, Thomas Sandell Arkitektkontor. In 1995 he started Sandellsandberg together with Ulf Sandberg and Joakim Uebel. Sandell has received numerous awards and realized many prestigious commissions nationally and internationally.
