At the prestigious Residence Stora Formpris 2024 awards ceremony, held on August 29th at Stockholm’s Auction House, Massproductions took center stage. Their creation, Woodwerk, an innovative stackable beech chair, claimed the coveted “Furniture of the Year” title.


The jury’s praise for Woodwerk was striking: “A solution to an age-old problem becomes functionalist poetry. Elegant seamless geometry transforms into two perfect unions in Woodwerk’s seat and back, each on its own terms.” This description captures the essence of the chair’s groundbreaking design and functionality.


Woodwerk, first unveiled at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen in June, is the brainchild of Massproductions’ Designer-in-Chief, Chris Martin. The chair will be available for purchase starting September 5th, giving design enthusiasts the opportunity to incorporate this award-winning masterpiece into their homes and public spaces.


Residence Stora Formpris, which has honored Sweden’s top creatives, architects, and designers since 2005, presented awards in ten categories this year. In addition to Furniture of the Year, categories included Designer of the Year, Architect of the Year, and Interior Designer of the Year.


To celebrate and showcase this year’s winners, including Woodwerk, a special exhibition is being held at Stockholm’s Auction House. Running from August 29th to September 3rd, the exhibition offers the public a chance to experience up close the innovative creations representing the pinnacle of Swedish design for 2024.
