A Return to Preservation Wisdom Through Modern Craftsmanship
KEEP is a thoughtfully crafted fermentation vessel that bridges ancient food preservation techniques with contemporary Scandinavian design sensibilities. Born from the collaboration between heritage glassmaker Orrefors and innovative LAYER design studio led by Benjamin Hubert, this vessel reimagines how we preserve our food in a resource-conscious world.
Each KEEP is meticulously mouth-blown, creating a vessel as unique as the fermentation process it houses. The clean, transparent form allows you to witness the transformation of ingredients while the natural rattan detailing provides both functional sealing and a warm textural contrast to the crystalline glass.
By creating an airtight environment that eliminates the need for refrigeration, KEEP honors traditional preservation methods that have sustained cultures for centuries. This piece invites a more mindful relationship with our food and resources—slowing down the rhythms of consumption while celebrating the artful patience of fermentation.
Exhibition: 101010 at Milan Design Week
Today marks the opening of 101010 – a milestone exhibition celebrating LAYER’s 10-year journey of innovative design. KEEP will be prominently featured among a carefully curated collection of prototypes addressing our most urgent contemporary challenges.
