The chair Phoenix, designed for Offecct by Luca Nichetto, has won Form magazine’s new design award “Sustainability project of the year” during Stockholm Furniture Fair.
− Phoenix is a result of our Lifecircle philosophy and is designed to have a long, flexible and sustainable lifecycle, says Anders Englund, Design Manager of Offecct.
The Lifecircle philosophy is the essence of everything Offecct does and is about connecting contemporary design with sustainability and to develop innovative design on the planet’s conditions.
– We can own the design and function, but the material we borrow from nature. We consider receiving the Form Award “Sustainability project of the year” proves that our philosophy works, says Anders Englund.
Phoenix has been developed in close cooperation between Offecct and Luca Nichetto. The frame is made of recycled aluminum, the wooden parts can easily be exchanged and the flexibility when it comes to color and material is great. The idea is that the entire product, not just the material, can be reused time and time again.
− I think Phoenix is a good “manifest product” that illustrates the sustainable philosophy, which I share with Offecct. To me the chair is a perfect example of what design is all about – cooperating with the industry, says Luca Nichetto.
Form Award is the design and architecture Magazine Form’s new award and is awarded to five different categories during Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair.
The motivation of this year’s sustainability project says:
The chair Phoenix, named after the mythical creature that is resurrected in eternity, is not only a sleek and intelligent design object. It is also a symbolic product for Offecct, one of the most important pioneers in the industry in terms of sustainability and circular thinking.
