The designer and long-time Red Dot jury member Hans Ehrich is the “Grand Seigneur” of the Swedish design culture. With Tom Ahlström, he co-founded the influential design studio A&E Design in 1968, a company which he still heads as director. Hans Ehrich has designed for, among others, Alessi, Colgate, Jordan and Siemens. His work has been on show at many international exhibitions and collections and he has received numerous awards. In 2015, he donated the complete collection of handmade models and prototypes from 50 years of work to the Swedish national museum.
In the Red Dot interview the native of Finland, who lived and worked in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy, speaks about his career and design approach. He also presents the dishwashing brush, which was designed for the Norwegian company Jordan in 1975 as well as the folding stool Stockholm II. Both products are an integral part of the everyday culture and are regarded as design classics: The brush is on show in the permanent design exhibition at the Swedish national museum. The stool is part of the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany.
