STRING FURNITURE AND FORM US WITH LOVE PRESENT STORAGE SOLUTIONS FOR MODERN WORK LIFE
String Furniture presents the new modular system, Center Center, designed by the Swedish design company Form Us With Love (FUWL). Center Center, aimed directly at the contract market, challenges conventional office planning and furnishing. The system is designed for the modern office where maximum flexibility and collaboration are key.
In recent years, the perception of the workplace in the traditional sense has fundamentally changed. Both the way we want to work and where we want to work have shifted, placing entirely new demands on today’s and future workplaces to be flexible, modular, and collaborative – it simply needs to be easy to adapt and reshape spaces as needs change. Workplaces that do not embrace this development will undoubtedly become less attractive to both current and future employees. At the same time, this presents new challenges for architects and interior designers who design these office environments.
String Furniture’s and FUWL’s solution to this challenge is called Center Center – a unique, multifunctional, and highly flexible modular system that enables both open and hidden storage and can be used to create barriers that still remain open. Center Center was created in FUWL’s studio in response to the team’s own need for a flexible workspace – and it perfectly aligns with String Furniture’s view on modularity and system-driven design. “Static storage is a concept that belongs to the past. Center Center challenges this idea by offering a solution that evolves with the user’s needs, both now and in the future. With Center Center, interior designers have the freedom to adapt spaces and create configurations that fully meet their clients’ needs and desires,” say John Löfgren and Jonas Pettersson at Form Us With Love.
Only Imagination Sets Limits
The modular system acts as a platform that can be built upon and configured in a variety of solutions, transcending traditional, more static storage methods for the office – but also for homes and social spaces. Each module can be used both vertically and horizontally, allowing the system to be combined and expanded in many ways. The minimalist form contributes to both functionality but also allows Center Center to become a natural part of the room.
Center Center is manufactured in Sweden using precise industrial techniques for welding and bending, entirely in thin sheet metal perforated in a 50x50x50 mm grid that creates a constructivist pattern and an elegant industrial feel. The modules are available in six sizes: 300x400x400, 400x300x400, 400x400x400, 400x600x400, 600x400x400, 600x600x400 and can be combined endlessly with each other and with a wide range of functional accessories, including doors, shelves, legs, wheels, trays, handles, and hooks. Center Center parts are available in a range of shades: ultramarine, light grey, chrome green, sulfur yellow, oyster white, Pompeii red, and of course black and white. If there is a need for exact color matching to existing interiors or specifications, the modules can be customized in bespoke shades on request.
A System for the Unthinkable
With Center Center, doors are opened to significantly freer planning of various types of spaces – not least by allowing interior designers to combine functionality with aesthetics. The choice is no longer between a limiting “either or”; open or closed, public or private, stationary or flexible – Center Center can be all these things simultaneously. Or be designed in ways that push boundaries and create something entirely new.
