The 001 Stool is essential, immediate, resilient. Like the Dining Tables and Chairs before it, Fredrik Paulsen has created a pleasingly archetypal design. Although Stool is the smallest object in the 001 family, this small seat loses none of the bulk that characterises its siblings. Generous dimensions of timber are used to full effect, making a reliably sturdy object. Yet 001 Stool is light enough to be moved around easily because Paulsen wanted to be clear about designing practical everyday seating. The addition of a dovetail joint makes for an easy-to-construct object.
