The sound is transferred into the thin solid wood front from an exciter element making the wood its acoustic surface. We are inspired by the amazing artisanry of luthiers and the acoustic properties of wood. This is our first experimental step towards developing a new way to address sound, both in design and function.
The speaker is crafted from flame maple, the same type of maple used in cello making. We had the great oportunity to source directly from one of Europes most acclamed supplier of instument wood, Andreas Pahler and Alpentonholtz in the German alps. This wood was harvested in 2016 from the Austrian alps and carefully dried to 5% humidity to ensure optimal acoustic properties.
