Which/who is your favorite:
– design object? I love kitchen utensils
– building? The Taj Mahal
– designer? Rei Kawakubo
Where do you find inspiration?
The world has always been my endless source of inspiration. Looking around me is somehow my way of breathing. Always and anywhere. No matter where I am. Even in the market just around the corner, I could find something that catches my eye and teases my creativity. Small wonders can be everywhere.
Which of your works you are proud of?
The project I am proud of is always the one I have not yet finished. To me, it’s always very poetic and exciting to design temporary exhibitions. Working on the “ephemeral” is a wonderful chance to hazard and imagine something magical.
What is the best thing about your profession?
I do my best to always have a little bit of fun in everything I do. This is very important to me. It is the reason why every project is always different.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
As a nomad, I have lived in many places around the world and I feel at home almost everywhere. When someone tells me I have no roots, I enjoy answering, “Of course I have roots! They are simply very short.” But I feel my roots are a bit deeper in Asia. For me, Asia is synonymous with freedom, lightness and simplicity. Essential aspects of my life and my work.
