David Regestam at Wingårdhs has designed the Tak table series that offers endless variation. Round, square or rectangular, always with the same consistent and coherent expression.
Your new series of tables, titled Tak, has a broad range of functionalities?
I wanted to create a large family of tables that is practically available in all sizes and types. The Tak series is made
of wood, since this is the hallmark and speciality of Gärsnäs. The Tak table comes as round, square or rectangular,
in different sizes and heights, four-legged or pedestal table, which all makes it unique on the market. The
large tables can be ordered in lengths as long as you like, without losing any of its character. The tables also suit
many kinds of chairs. I often look for furniture with one and the same expression that is suitable for many types
of interiors and offers endless variation. The Tak table has been designed to both complement and fit in with
the Gärsnäs range. The common denominator for the tables in the series is their straight, functional design with
exposed details in the joints, which is also a characteristic of much Gärsnäs furniture through the years.
Why call it Tak?
The very first delivery of tables is going to a new restaurant and bar in Stockholm that will be called TAK. It is
under construction now, on a rooftop (Tak means roof in Swedish), designed by us at Wingårdh Arkitektkontor.
Gärsnäs has a tradition of naming its furniture after projects and I thought it was an appropriate name because
the tables also remind me of a roof construction: a thin layer on a steady frame.
