Blå Hallen – a cultural hub in southern Sweden
In an industrial building from the early 1900s, art, culture, and people meet. Sometimes the walls play the main role, other days they are barely visible behind the art. Generations of Höganäs residents have worked here, and when the industrial community meets culture, something new and different happens.
Blå Hallen fairs have grown into something that can best be described as cultural festivals. A place for creative people who are passionate about everything from poetry to fashion. Here, art, crafts, design, fashion, antiques, music, and literature meet. The foundation is our passion for art and culture – and our love for the building that we manage.
Blå Hallen is a life project, and the building evolves every year. The creative process is ongoing, and the creation of Blå Hallen happens in the meeting between artists, exhibitors, and visitors. The winding road ahead is probably greater than the perfect ending.
In total, Blå Hallen is 5000 square meters and consists of a five-story brick building from 1919 that once served as a central warehouse for Höganäsbolaget. This building houses art exhibitions and Blå Hallen’s auditorium. Two enormous wooden halls were added in the 1940s. During the fairs, over 50 exhibitors move into the halls, which also house Blå Hallen’s stage, bar, and catering.
A building saturated with history, which in just a few years has become an obvious and necessary part of Scandinavia’s cultural scene.
