A SPACE WITH CHANGING EXHIBITIONS ABOUT THE DESIGN SCENE RIGHT NOW
AKUT #6: Fabric of Change
—
Welcome to an exhibition spotlighting what’s currently unfolding on the design scene. In the museum’s AKUT space, we showcase everything from emerging trends to design that addresses pressing contemporary issues, offering fresh perspectives on design and craftsmanship.
AKUT is a series of exhibitions focusing on the latest developments within the design field. The series highlights companies and designers working on transformative changes that impact us all. Each exhibition explores how design plays a pivotal role in addressing major societal dilemmas and challenges.
Today, designers and companies are increasingly engaged with the question of how design objects, furniture, and textiles can be recycled or upcycled. The global fashion and textile industries are among the most resource-intensive sectors, heavily contributing to environmental and climate challenges. As a result, there is an urgent need for new, more sustainable solutions. This exhibition shows how used textiles can be upcycled into new products, and investigates how large-scale green transition can be realized — through the example of the Danish company Textilia (formerly De Forenede Dampvaskerier).
