Grythyttan Stålmöbler has expanded its Classic series with a dark red lacquered oak finish — a new wood treatment that adds depth and warmth to the functionalist outdoor furniture collection rooted in Swedish design since 1930.

The Classic series traces its origins to the Stockholm Exhibition of 1930, where Artur Lindqvist presented the A2 armchair — a chair constructed from solid spring steel that gave rise to the series’ characteristic gentle rocking motion.

The collection has since expanded to include chairs, tables, benches, and stools, all sharing the same underlying principles of design, comfort, and functionality.

The dark red lacquered oak joins the existing range of wood finishes, which includes teak, oiled oak, and white-lacquered oak. Frames are available in either hot-dip galvanized or black powder-coated steel. The pine version of the Classic series continues to be offered exclusively with a green powder-coated frame — a colour long associated with the Klassikerserien.

All steel used in Grythyttan’s furniture is recycled, and the oak is sourced with FSC and PEFC certification. The company has been manufacturing outdoor furniture in Grythyttehed, Sweden, for over 130 years.
