INFINITY for Made by Hand

The centrepiece of Boris Berlin’s new work at the fair is INFINITY, a pendant lamp produced by Danish brand Made by Hand. The frame — an extruded aluminium profile — is bent into a three-dimensional infinity symbol. Two 3D-knitted surfaces stretched across the frame encase the light source, transforming the fitting into a sculptural object that appears to hover in space.

INFINITY can be oriented horizontally or vertically to suit the space, and works equally well suspended above a dining table, as a standalone statement piece, or arranged in formation. The lamp is suitable for residential interiors, public buildings, and architectural applications such as stairwells.

Made by Hand presents INFINITY at two locations in Nyhavn. At Judie (Nyhavn 26), the upper deck is configured as an atmospheric boat lounge with suspended lighting installations and canal-side drinks. At Nyhavn 14, Made by Hand’s products are integrated into a working Italian restaurant rather than a conventional showroom setting.

GRID Chair at Objects of Desire

Boris Berlin’s GRID Chair is featured in the Objects of Desire exhibition at Thorvaldsens Museum (Bertel Thorvaldsens Plads 2, 1213 Copenhagen). The exhibition brings together a selected group of designers and makers working outside mass production, united by a focus on material awareness, production quality, and design integrity.

The GRID Chair — originally designed with Poul Christiansen for Komplot Design — features straight geometric side silhouettes connected by an organically shaped wooden grid, formed by the contours of the human body. The design combines traditional joinery with computer-controlled processing.

Previous work across Copenhagen

Earlier work from Boris Berlin Design is on display at Please Wait To Be Seated (Esplanaden 2) and +Halle (Kattesundet 4). Work from the Iskos-Berlin and Komplot periods can be seen at Muuto (Østergade 36–38), HAY (Østergade 61), GUBI (Orientkaj 18–20), and Källemo (Bredgade 69).

Book shortlist

Alongside the fair, the monograph Boris Berlin: Dialogues on Form — with graphic design by Rasmus Koch — has reached the shortlist of the Most Beautiful German Books competition (Wettbewerb Schönste Deutsche Bücher), organised by Stiftung Buchkunst. Of more than 600 submitted titles, 92 reached the shortlist across five categories. Final winners per category will be announced on 15 June 2026.
