Born in 1978, Swedish industrial designer Charlotte von der Lancken has established herself as a highly influential figure in 21st-century design. After earning her Master’s degree from Konstfack (The University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm) in 2004, she immediately made an international impact by co-founding the progressive design group Front with three of her classmates. During her tenure with Front from 2004 to 2015, the group’s focus on strong concepts, chance, and new technologies resulted in designs that are widely regarded as some of the most influential of the era.
A New Era with CVDLAB In 2015, von der Lancken chose to embark on a new chapter, founding her independent Stockholm-based studio, CVDLAB, in 2016. At CVDLAB, her practice pivots around deep research into sustainable manufacturing processes and biomaterials, alongside experiments in 3D printing technology. This dedication to forward-thinking material sciences is also reflected in her professional engagements, which include roles as a Material Scout at RISE Bioeconomy (2020–2021) and Product Owner of Hydroponic growth at Nelson Garden (2021–2022).
From Glasses to Public Parks: A Diverse Portfolio Von der Lancken’s diverse portfolio spans art, furniture, interior decoration, and industrial design—meaning she has designed “about everything from glasses to showers and public places”. Her extensive client list features prestigious international design houses and public entities, including:

- Showers & Homeware: Hansgrohe / Axor, Rosenthal GmbH, and Höganäs Keramik.

Global Recognition and Museum Collections Her visionary approach has earned her numerous prestigious global accolades, including the Torsten och Wanja Söderbergs Pris (2010), the Red Dot Award – Best of the Best (2014), the Design S / Svensk Form Award (2016), and the Best of NeoCon Sustainability, Innovation & Gold Awards (2022).
Her celebrated works are housed in the permanent collections of some of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and San Francisco, the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and Sweden’s own Nationalmuseum.
