Stand By Me – A new modular seating
Design by Mia Cullin and Margot Barolo for STORÄNGEN DESIGN. We got the challange to do a new seating system to Storängen, well known for their beautiful handcrafted furniture. Our goal was to make the textile as important as the wood. No one more important than the other. It became a modular sofa system in birch wood and upholstered textile. To mix in various combinations and with two choices of different back seat. The back you “wear”on the sofa is inspired of the cutting of a downjacket. Easy to put on and of. Changeble if you want to have cushions instead, that show the wooden parts in the back. Everything made in Småland ny skillful craftsmen and women.
Storängen Design was founded by designer and interior decorator Mårten Cyrén in Stockholm in 2017. Today, he shares the leadership with his son Carl, an industrial designer and artist.
Together, they see their company as an opportunity to offer quality furniture and design at reasonable prices. It is also a platform for experimentation and collaborations with architects, other designers, design schools, manufacturers, and skilled craftspeople.
The products are made in Sweden. Small production runs and close relationships with manufacturers and customers mean that Storängen Design often custom-tailors products for specific interiors.
