Modern illumination with a touch of nature
Modern illumination with a touch of nature defines the Asteea 1 pendant, which has been awarded the “Best of Design” recognition. Designed by Sofie Refer for Danish lighting brand Nuura, the lamp explores organic forms through contemporary manufacturing and LED technology.
Sofie Refer, a Copenhagen-based designer, draws inspiration from natural phenomena and botanical structures. Her work demonstrates refined attention to how light interacts with materials and shapes, creating atmospheric presence through thoughtful design decisions rather than decorative excess.
The Asteea pendant features delicate, branch-like arms that extend from a central point, each terminating in precisely positioned light sources. This organic branching pattern creates gentle, diffused illumination while the sculptural form makes visual impact even when unlit.
Nuura, established in 2017, has quickly become recognized for contemporary Danish lighting that honors Scandinavian design heritage while embracing new aesthetic directions. The brand collaborates with designers who share commitment to quality, innovation, and creating lighting that enhances architectural spaces through subtle sophistication.
