The Building Unites Seven Nordic Brands for Stockholm Design Days 2026

The Building 2026

Seven of the most respected Nordic design brands will present a collaborative exhibition titled The Building during Stockholm Design Days, February 3–5, 2026.

The curated event transforms a historic building at Västra Trädgårdsgatan 9, near Kungsträdgården, into a temporary design destination showcasing Scandinavian craftsmanship and contemporary furniture design.

String Furniture, founded in 1949 and renowned for its modular shelving systems, joins Sweden’s oldest furniture manufacturer Gemla, established in 1861 and specialised in steam-bent wood furniture. Grythyttan Stålmöbler brings 130 years of steel craftsmanship with their spring steel garden furniture tradition dating to 1895. Källemo, known for limited edition artistic furniture including Jonas Bohlin’s iconic Concrete chair, represents the intersection of design and art.

Finnish brand Made by Choice contributes their distinctive bent birch plywood furniture from their Halikko workshop, while ateljé Lyktan presents nine decades of Swedish lighting innovation from their Åhus factory. Stockholm-based HAHA studio completes the collaboration with contemporary lighting and furniture exploring poetic design expressions.

The Building emerges as a key destination during Stockholm Design Days, the collective name for independent design events taking place while the traditional Stockholm Furniture Fair pauses for 2026. Each brand occupies a dedicated exhibition space within the venue, presenting new collections and heritage pieces that demonstrate Nordic design philosophy, sustainable manufacturing and enduring craftsmanship.
