Sixty years with Bertil Vallien

No name is more closely tied to Kosta Boda than Bertil Vallien, whose collaboration with the glassworks spans more than six decades — from his early Picnic series in 1967 to the retrospective STARMAN exhibition marking sixty years of exploring glass art. Vallien has represented Kosta Boda internationally, including a retrospective at the Venice Biennale in 2012 exploring “man’s relationship with the environment, with history, with the sacred, and with time.”

Artists shaping the glassworks today

Åsa Jungnelius designed the Crackle series, a mouth-blown collection with an organic, distinctive expression that later won a Red Dot Award in its Circular edition, made from upcycled waste glass. Matti Klenell has designed the Viva tableware series and, together with his brother Simon Klenell, the LAB and Bod collections — a partnership that runs alongside Kosta Boda’s other design-studio collaborations, including tableware by Front and candle holders by Clara von Zweigbergk.
