During 3daysofdesign 2026, Motarasu joins Søuld and Sumum in a shared spatial installation curated by Norm Architects.
Presented at Esplanaden 8b in Copenhagen, COMPOSED MATTER is an exploration of materiality, atmosphere and the quiet dialogue between objects and space.
Three brands. Three distinct design languages. One carefully composed environment.
COMPOSED MATTER brings together Motarasu, Søuld and Sumum in a spatial installation where natural materials, tactile surfaces and soft illumination are arranged not as a display but as an experience. Light shifts through the day, revealing subtle variations in texture, transparency and shadow. Soft geometries guide movement through the space. The objects do not compete — they converse.
Curated by Norm Architects, the exhibition unfolds as a series of moments rather than a sequence of products. Each corner holds something to pause at, to touch, to consider.
Sekiun 23 Pendant. Designed by Ryota Yokozeki
Named after the Japanese word for cumulus cloud, Sekiun is formed from two rolled and layered sheets of specially coated washi paper. Its asymmetric form shifts with every angle.
Ray Light Sculpture. Designed by AHM x LUND.
A circular wooden light-sculpture, lit from within. Ray is crafted from Oregon pine and finished with Uzukuri, a Japanese technique of brushing the surface to expose the contrast between seasonal growth layers.
Unveiling new designs
During 3daysofdesign, Motarasu will also unveil new lighting designs developed in close collaboration with both Japanese and Danish designers. Objects that carry the same belief that has always guided the collection: that two design traditions, placed in genuine dialogue, can produce something neither could arrive at alone.
