Dan Ihreborn (b. 1952) is a Swedish furniture designer who has worked as a freelancer since 1991, collaborating with over 20 furniture manufacturers while developing his own design philosophy through the Dan Ihreborn Private Collection.
Ihreborn’s commercial clients include IKEA, Dux, Källemo, Stolab, and Edsbyn, for whom he has designed both office environments and domestic furniture. His work spans industrial production to unique artistic objects, always exploring the tension between commercial requirements and personal creative vision.
The Dan Ihreborn Private Collection represents his parallel practice—a small collection of unique furniture and objects designed “for the joy and excitement it creates and as a means of generating new experiences in modern design.”
His 2022 Link easy chair for Stolab emerged from what Ihreborn called “a kind of manifesto” criticizing Swedish design’s decline since the 1970s. The chair references 1950s Scandinavian design with its winged armrests and contains not a single straight line. Stolab describes it as “a future classic.”
Ihreborn’s work has been exhibited at London Design Biennale, Museum Vandalorum, and Tokyo Design Week. He also works as an interior designer specializing in office environments, bringing his design sensibility to commercial spaces throughout Sweden.
