Stockholm Design Talks: Snøhetta, The new Nordic

At Stockholm Design Talks 2016, held as part of Stockholm Furniture Fair, Norwegian architecture and design studio Snøhetta presented its perspective on the direction of Nordic design under the title The New Nordic.

The talk was given by Jenny B. Osuldsen, Partner and Senior Landscape Architect at Snøhetta, and moderated by Mark Isitt.

Osuldsen addressed the studio’s ongoing process of reinvention, exploring how Snøhetta uses both analog and digital tools in its creative work, and how the challenges of the green shift — sustainability, material responsibility, and ecological thinking — are influencing and reshaping the studio’s practice.

Snøhetta was founded in 1989 and is based in Oslo, with additional offices in New York, San Francisco, Paris and elsewhere. The studio works across architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and product design, and is best known internationally for the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, and the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion in New York. In Scandinavia, the studio has been involved in projects ranging from cultural institutions to urban public spaces.

Stockholm Design Talks is an annual lecture programme held during Stockholm Furniture Fair, presenting architects, designers, and thinkers from across the Nordic region and beyond.
