Excellent Swedish Design 2025 Winners Announced After 23-Year Hiatus

USF 2025

Here are the recipients of Excellent Swedish Design/Utmärkt Svensk Form 2025

After a 23-year hiatus, Svensk Form’s most prestigious award is being relaunched. Twelve contributions representing the finest and most significant in Swedish design will receive Utmärkt Svensk Form 2025. The award will be presented Tueseday at the National Museum in Stockholm by H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip, patron of Svensk Form.

Unlike many other design awards, it is not possible to apply for Utmärkt Svensk Form. The selection is instead based on extensive monitoring of the design landscape that Svensk Form conducts together with an expert jury, including nominations from the public and regional associations. The result is a collection of works that reflects the most relevant and finest in Swedish design right now. The jury evaluates the works from several aspects, including conceptual excellence, craftsmanship, sustainability, social relevance, and artisanal excellence, to name a few. This can range from everyday objects like textiles and furniture to advanced material solutions, technical innovations, and site-specific environments.

“This year’s contributions demonstrate the diversity and significance of design. Here we find solutions that improve lives and strengthen everyday life, innovations that drive sustainable transformation, and works that open new perspectives on identity and society. At the same time, several contributions convey stories and materiality that build upon our cultural heritage. With Utmärkt Svensk Form, we want to give recognition to this breadth and excellence that characterizes Swedish design today,” says Björn Nordin, CEO of Svensk Form.

As Svensk Form now resumes this prestigious award, originally established in 1983, we want to highlight design that not only maintains a high aesthetic standard but also contributes to the cultural heritage of the future and strengthens Sweden’s role on the international design scene.

The winning contributions will be presented in an exhibition starting spring 2026 in Skellefteå.
