Reflecting beauty and diversity
Nordgröna proudly introduces Flora, a sound-absorbing wood slat system inspired by the beauty and biodiversity of natural forests. Each solid wood piece, crafted from various tree species, tells the story of its unique origin—a story of diversity and sustainability. With the option to obtain a QR code, customers can learn about the exact origin of each piece, including the specific tree species used. By preserving healthy branches and using varied wood lengths, Flora reduces waste, preserves the wood’s natural color variations, and honors the forest’s essence.

Protecting forests with groundbreaking methods
Flora supports a transformative shift in how we value and manage forests for future generations. The timber we use meets the Swedish Green Building Council’s NollCO2 standard* through Clear-Cut-Free forestry practices. This method involves selectively harvesting only a few trees at a time, preserving the majority of the forest ecosystem. By allowing young seedlings to thrive, this approach maintains biodiversity, keeps soils healthy, and stores carbon instead of releasing it.

A collaboration with visionary designers
We teamed up with Johan Berhin, a veteran in sustainable design and a member of Plockhugget, a Swedish organization advancing sustainable forestry, and Daniel Gezavati, a green entrepreneur specializing in sustainable construction. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to sustainable innovation.

A commitment to climate action
Clear-cutting accelerates climate change by releasing significant amounts of stored carbon. Forests are natural carbon sinks, capturing CO2 from the atmosphere. However, in Sweden alone, clear-cutting emits 15 million tons of CO2 annually**, equivalent to the emissions from the entire transport sector. Addressing climate change is essential for the planet’s future, as rising temperatures threaten ecosystems, human health, and global food security. Immediate action across individual, business, and governmental levels is critical. With Flora, Nordgröna is pioneering a new standard in design and sustainability, working to preserve forests, store carbon, and protect vital ecosystems—one wall at a time.
