Friis & Moltke has brought its FM320 deck chair back into production, working with Anno Studio to reissue a design the Danish studio first created more than 40 years ago.

“For more than 40 years ago, we designed a deck chair focused on simplicity, lightness, and a timeless aesthetic that could live on for many years,” Friis & Moltke says of the FM320.

“Now Anno Studio has chosen to put the chair back into production. It is not a recreation, but a rediscovery of a design that gets new life in a contemporary context.”

The FM320 was originally created for the coastal architecture of Øer Maritime Ferieby. Its intersecting wooden frame and angled seat reflect a functional, sculptural approach rooted in Danish design tradition. The chair now appears on the cover of Anno Studio’s new catalog, which Friis & Moltke says draws a line between the design’s original era and its current relaunch: a smaller model shown in the catalog’s illustration, the studio notes, points to how a design can continue its story in new contexts without losing its original character.

Friis & Moltke describes its collaboration with Anno Studio as rooted in a shared commitment to Danish craftsmanship and design tradition, with the studio’s original ideas and vision kept central throughout the reissue. The chair is produced locally using what the collaboration describes as honest materials, bringing the classic form into a modern setting without losing what makes it distinctive. The partnership, Friis & Moltke says, is built on curiosity, openness, and long-term commitment, aiming to create pieces that are lived with for many years.
