This year marks 80 years since Grythyttan Stålmöbler launched the timeless garden armchair A2. By using spring steel in the frame, they created the incomparable and unpretentious rocking motion that has captured so many hearts. During the anniversary year 2010, a limited edition anniversary collection is being sold.

The classic, functionalism-inspired A2 armchair that was launched at the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930 is still highly sought after and much beloved today. Clean and minimalist in appearance but generous and giving in experience, the A2 Armchair entices you to want more. The secret behind the Grythyttan chairs’ popularity is the soothing rocking motion that encourages thoughts to slow down and allows the body to come to rest.

Grythyttan Stålmöbler’s anniversary collection is a classic collection with a modern twist.

The furniture in today’s Classic series has its origins in the first chairs made in functionalist style. The template for the anniversary collection is the classic A2 collection with orange steel frame and pine slats. Only the finest timber logs of Swedish pine are used for the wood details. The so-called star sawing of the first-class carpentry wood takes advantage of the wood’s natural properties and benefits. With vertical annual rings, you get a harder surface that absorbs less moisture and provides significantly more dimensionally stable and less crack-prone wood parts.

The anniversary collection includes a 9B table and four A2 Armchairs with cushions upholstered in fabric specially developed for the anniversary collection. Additionally included is an exclusive presentation book – The Story of a Swedish Furniture Classic.

New table for the High Tech series

The High Tech table’s design is light and stable. Naturally with Grythyttan Stålmöbler’s high quality in materials down to the smallest detail in manufacturing. The frame is available in three finishes: hot-dip galvanized, dark green and black. The table top is white and made of durable compact laminate. The table top can be provided with custom motifs on order. Total height: 72 cm. Table top dimensions: Ø 60 cm. Both the table and chair are easy to place and suit an outdoor patio as well as indoors. For indoor use, smart floor protectors are available as accessories.
