Lyndon Neri & Rossana Hu, who run the acclaimed Chinese interdisciplinary design and architecture office Neri&Hu, have been commissioned to create an installation at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair
This is the 16th time Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair invites a renowned international designer or architect to design an installation at Stockholmsmässan’s entrance square.
“We are very happy and proud that Neri&Hu accepted the commission. Their work is characterized by a visionary and poetic approach, with intelligent methods that suit our globalized world. The couple Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu founded Neri&Hu Design and Research Office in 2004, an interdisciplinary practice in architectural design in Shanghai, China. They still have their headquarters there and an additional office in London. Neri&Hu works internationally and has a multicultural staff that speaks over 30 different languages. The diversity within the team strengthens the office’s core vision; to respond to a globalized worldview that incorporates overlapping approaches in design. Neri&Hu strongly believes in research as a design tool, since each project has a unique set of contextual challenges. They consider critically examining the particular aspects of program, site, function, and history crucial for creating thorough design work.
“We are truly honored and were pleasantly surprised to be asked. We also like that according to the brief we received, we should NOT do what was expected for a design fair, and that we could therefore think outside the box and be more exploratory with this approach. We have given lectures and designed booths at the fair before and we are really impressed by how well the fair represents Scandinavian style in the global design market. It’s so exciting and we really look forward to what happens there next year!” say Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu.
In addition to architecture and interior design, Neri&Hu works with a number of design products for various brands in Europe, including Agape, Arflex, Artemide, BD Barcelona Design, BOLON, ClassiCon, Concrete LCDA, Driade, Fritz Hansen, Gandia Blasco, GAN, Kvadrat, LEMA, Meritalia, MOOOI, Nanimarquina, OFFECCT, Parachilna, Poltrona Frau, Porro, S.Pellegrino, Wallpaper* Handmade and Viabizzuno as well as some brands in Asia, including JIA and Stellar Works. Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu have received a large number of awards, including being main winners of PLAN Award 2018 and named designers of the year by EDIDA 2017, interior designer of the year at ICONIC Awards 2017 by the German Design Council, designer of the year at Maison&Objet Asia 2015 and designer of the year by Wallpaper* 2014. They are winners of the 2014 World Architecture Festival. In 2013 they received a place in the Interior Design Hall of Fame in the USA. The studio was selected as main winner of INSIDE Festival 2011, awarded AR Awards for Emerging Architecture 2010 by Architectural Review (UK) and awarded a Design Vanguards prize 2009 by Architectural Record (USA).
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair takes place February 5-9, 2019 at Stockholmsmässan.
