A Glass Globe Gently Reimagined

Pholc has launched Fall, a new pendant and wall lamp designed by John Astbury — the brand’s first collaboration with the British, Stockholm-based designer.

Fall takes the classic glass globe as its starting point and introduces a subtle shift in form.

The opal glass body features a straight-cut silhouette with gently echoed curves, giving the familiar archetype a quieter, more considered presence. The result is a lamp that feels both recognisable and new.

Available as both a pendant and a wall lamp, Fall works well as a single piece or repeated across a space, where it adds volume, softness and rhythm. Its atmospheric light brings a sense of intimacy to a room — what Pholc describes as “its own space within a space.”

John Astbury founded his design studio in southern Stockholm in 2014, after completing his studies at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. His practice is built on re-examining archetypes — breaking down familiar objects to uncover their structural and material essence. Previous collaborations include Muuto, &Tradition and New Works.

Pholc was founded in Stockholm in 2015 by Maja and Samuel Norburg with an ambition to develop expressive, high-quality Swedish lighting.
