Laura Lange Designs Hasle Lamp for FDB Møbler Based on Iconic Aarhus Landmark

Laura Lange designs the Hasle wall lamp series for FDB Møbler, drawing inspiration from the Hasle water tower in Aarhus.

The 30-meter modernist landmark, built in 1970 for Århus Kommunale Værker, features a distinctive trumpet form that exemplifies expressive modernism.

Lange translates the tower’s industrial aesthetic into a flexible lighting solution with adjustable directional light source. Crafted from powder-coated iron in olive green and oyster white, Hasle is available in short and long versions. The simple assembly and movable light direction allow users to create customized atmospheres. The lamp series adds both decorative and functional value across residential and commercial environments.

”A harmonious design is not just an object standing strong on its own; it is part of a shared dialogue between people, other objects, and the spaces they inhabit”

Laura Lange (b. 1991) is a product designer with a BA in Industrial Design from Kolding School of Design and an MA in Furniture and Spatial Design from the Royal Danish Academy.

Her designs are grounded in a deep understanding of industrial processes and the potential of materials, driven by the belief that design should resonate in the space and for the user. Through her work, Laura Lange strives to develop concepts that are not only functional but also invite interaction and create a sense of coherence between object, space, and individual. Her designs seek a balance where form and joints appear clean and easily readable to the user, characterized by a particular love for shaping with clear traits. Laura often works in the intersection between product and space, and this is often reflected in her projects having spatial resonance.
