LILLE – Considered softness
Lille is shaped by the interaction of light and form, translated into a compact, subtle, yet distinctive design. Light is directed with precision, while a softer glow filters through the details — allowing the metallic surface to shift and deepen when lit.
Lille is available as both pendant and wall piece. In each form, the light is directed — either downward or reflected against the wall — creating a clear sense of purpose. At the same time, a softer glow filters through the layered form and precise lines, adding a quiet atmosphere to the space.
The colours, from raw aluminium to vibrant green, highlight the sculptural presence of Lille — whether used in repeat or as a solitaire.

DESIGNED BY ANNE DORTHE VESTER
Lille is designed by the Danish architect and designer Anne Dorthe Vester. In her practice, she continuously seeks interdisciplinary collaborations and believes that compelling work takes shape through encounters. Anne Dorthe previously worked with Pholc on creating Meter, showcasing her minimalist and tactile design approach with a deep connection to exploration of material and Danish design traditions.
“Architecture is quite abstract, but with smaller designs you get to be involved in every detail. That’s fascinating to me. Lille is full of those thought through details, and when lit, its layers emerge, presenting new aspects of the design.”

A COLLABORATIVE COLOUR PROCESS
Initially, Lille was designed in raw aluminium. During the process, colours were added. Anne Dorthe usually works with subtle hues:
“I was definitely pushed in new design directions, so it was nice to have Pholc as an advisor. We ended up in a good place. The colours support each other and make the design even more relevant. When the lamp turns on, there’s a subtle change of nuance. In a way, Lille comes alive.”

PHOLC ON THE COLLABORATION
Maja Norburg, Creative Director at Pholc, on working with Anne Dorthe Vester:
”Our first collaboration with Anne Dorthe was Meter – a design where her poetic, finely tuned approach really came through. With Lille, we wanted to keep exploring that way of working with light and form – how the two can come together to create a strong sense of character. As both pendant and wall piece, the shape interacts with the light – and when lit, subtle layers begin to emerge. The colours were developed in close dialogue with Anne Dorthe, and they feel true to both her and Pholc – soft and elegant, but with a bit of edge.”

POETIC SUMMARY
Lille explores how light moves through form. Direct and clear at first, then softened by layers and fine lines. Its presence shifts with the space around it, shaped by surface, proportion and light. In raw aluminium or vibrant green, each version brings a distinct expression.
