MonoQrom — Minimalist Silhouette Art

There is a particular discipline in deciding what to leave out.

MonoQrom is a minimalist art project founded by Art Director Ola Marton in collaboration with artist, graphic designer, and photographer Maximilian Slash Tiger Marton.

Working from Malmö, Sweden, create hand-painted acrylic silhouettes that reduce their subjects — human figures, animals, architectural forms — to pure, unambiguous shape.

Vision & Name

The project’s name compresses two ideas: monochrome and chromatic. The palette is deliberately constrained — black, white, and the occasional spare accent of colour — but the ambition is anything but minimal. Each work is the result of deliberate additions and, more importantly, deliberate removals.

“MonoQrom explores the boundary between presence and absence,” Marton writes in his artist statement. “By reducing subjects to pure silhouettes, I seek the moment where form becomes universal — where a specific figure becomes every figure.”

Works & Availability

MonoQrom’s range spans hand-painted originals, photographic collections and everyday objects. The painted works — acrylics on canvas, signed and documented — are created jointly by Ola and Maximilian.

The range divides into three categories: unique hand-painted originals, prints, and a selection of everyday products — t-shirts, tote bags, mugs and notebooks — each carrying the same reductive aesthetic.

Photography

Maximilian Slash Tiger Marton brings his own collection of visual masterpieces to MonoQrom — images so captivating they simply must be shared with the world. His unique vision captures the unspoken and transforms the everyday into something extraordinary.

He sees beyond the obvious, finding those quiet moments that, through his lens, invite us to experience the familiar as if for the first time. The Flower Power Collection is one expression of this: images that carry MonoQrom’s aesthetic DNA while existing entirely on photography’s own terms.

Background

Ola Marton founded ScandinavianDesign.com in 1996, making him one of the earliest voices in Nordic design publishing online. His design philosophy — “reduce to the sublime” — has remained consistent across editorial, commercial and fine art contexts. MonoQrom is its purest expression.
