ND93 is a freestanding desk designed by Danish husband-and-wife duo Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel in 1955
Now reissued by Snedkergaarden Them in collaboration with Nanna Ditzel Design and the couple’s daughter, Dennie Ditzel.
Originally produced by Søren Willadsen Furniture Factory in teak, oak and rosewood, the desk left production in the 1960s and has been out of manufacture for decades.
The reissue follows an extended development period during which Snedkergaarden worked closely with the Ditzel estate to ensure the craftsmanship matches the designers’ original intentions.
The ND93 is described as cassette-shaped, with clean horizontal lines and cone-shaped legs in solid wood. It is the most recognised desk from the Ditzels’ collaboration, which spanned from 1946 — the year of their marriage and the founding of their studio — until Jørgen Ditzel’s death in 1961 at the age of 40. The desk is now available in oak, walnut or black-stained wood, with two, three or four drawers. The three-drawer version measures 145 × 75 × 76 cm.
Nanna Ditzel (1923–2005) trained as a cabinetmaker and graduated from Kunsthåndværkerskolen in 1946. She went on to design some of Danish design’s most enduring pieces, among them the Trinidad Chair for Fredericia and the Coco Chair. Snedkergaarden is a Danish furniture manufacturer based in Them, specialising in reissues of mid-century Danish classics.
