2nd Place – Danmarks Næste Klassiker 2026
Copenhagen Airport, Your Wingman – PITSTOP
Awarded 2nd place in Danmarks Næste Klassiker 2026, PITSTOP was developed in just 21 days for one of Denmark’s most demanding public environments: Terminal 3 at Copenhagen Airport.

The brief challenged us to rethink airport seating. Not a traditional waiting chair — but a design that creates calm, supports immersion and connection, and withstands continuous daily use in a hightraffic international setting. Ergonomics, durability, flexibility, and sustainability were all essential parameters.
PITSTOP responds with a sculptural yet purposeful form inspired by the geometry of an aircraft wing. The cool blue tones reference the Nordic sky, subtly anchoring the design in its context.
More than a seat, it creates a defined micro-environment — a room within the room. A place for focused work, video meetings, reading, or a quiet pause between departures. The chair can rotate to either create privacy or open up for interaction, allowing the user to control their spatial experience.
The integrated work surface is angled to improve ergonomic comfort for laptop and mobile use. A secondary table slides discreetly from beneath the seat for food or personal belongings. Power outlets are positioned low and integrated into the structure, ensuring both durability and easy cleaning in a busy airport environment.
Sustainability was addressed as rigorously as form and function. In line with increasing EU requirements for CO₂ transparency, a climate passport was developed in collaboration with PROVICE — documenting the chair’s environmental footprint.
Recycled seat foam and textile made from collected ocean plastic reduce CO₂ emissions by 41% compared to virgin materials. The modular construction extends lifespan, allowing individual components to be replaced. At end-of-life, all parts can be separated for responsible waste sorting.
PITSTOP demonstrates how design can elevate even the most functional public space — balancing sculptural identity, user comfort, and measurable environmental responsibility.
One chair. Your wingman. Ready for takeoff.
