The Scandinavian Design Awards will be launched in 2023. This new initiative aims to recognise and pay tribute to both established players and newcomers within architecture, interiors and design, in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The awards are a partnership between the publishing company It Is Media and Stockholm Furniture Fair, with the winners being announced during Stockholm Design Week at the beginning of February 2023.
It Is Media has previously been responsible for the Swedish Design Awards by Rum, which have been presented to Swedish designers and architects for ten years, while Stockholm Furniture Fair has awarded the Editors’ Choice Awards. A new partnership has now been created to add greater weight and substance to both the awards themselves and the winners. The aim is to institute a major new set of accolades, based on a strong platform with an international outlook. Together, the awards will reinforce and spur on the design industry, supporting individual creatives and businesses alike.
The Scandinavian Design Awards ceremony will be held in the Blue Hall at Stockholm City Hall on Monday 6 February 2023. This promises to be a spectacular evening showcasing the cream of scandinavian design and architectural talent, with sparkling entertainment and glittering award presentations. Ticket sales will enable anyone with an interest in design to attend the evening. The winners will also be the stars of a curated exhibition at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023.
The Scandinavian Design Awards consist of eight categories:
Architecture of the Year
Furniture of the Year
Interior detail of the Year
Designer of the Year
Garden design of the Year
Sustainability Award of the Year
Rising Star of the Year
Producer of the Year
A jury of top names within the architecture and design industries in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland will select the winners. Every member of the carefully chosen jury has extensive experience within their own profession. The jury is chaired by architectural historian and writer Martin Rörby.
