Tavolo is a table from Mats Theselius’s series Körsbärstjuven (The Cherry Thief), first launched in 2001.
Produced in a numbered edition of 16 pieces, each table is a singular object — the result of an exacting manufacturing process that combines turning, milling, chipping, forging, threading and polishing applied to solid Swedish steel with a black bronzed finish.
The tabletop is in polished black Solid Surface, 70 cm in diameter and 24 mm thick. The overall height is 73 cm. Every dimension and surface reflects a deliberate material logic: dense, tactile and precise. Tavolo is neither a piece of mass production nor a conventional studio edition — it occupies a position between functional furniture and sculptural object.
The table was nominated for the German Design Award 2018, a recognition of both its design quality and the rigour of its production.
