My Granddaughter’s Cabinet is a tribute to the longevity of design and the emotional bonds between generations.
Created by Lisa Hilland, the cabinet was born from a desire to design a piece of furniture so precious and well-crafted that it would be naturally passed down from parent to child, and eventually to a granddaughter.
The Poetry of the Pattern
The most striking feature of the cabinet is its intricate, lace-like ornamentation. Hilland uses modern CNC-milling technology to “embroider” the wood, creating a delicate, tactile surface that mimics the appearance of fine lace or a knitted textile. This juxtaposition—using a high-tech industrial process to create a soft, romantic aesthetic—is a hallmark of Hilland’s work.
