CUTTER BENCH 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Cutter Bench, Fritz Hansen proudly introduces a limited-time release of the original 160cm length version, crafted in premium teak. The Cutter Bench was first unveiled in 1999 when Danish designer Niels Hvass created the bench design for the “Planken Ud” competition.
With a vision to design a museum bench, Hvass stated, “It is essential that the bench does not make noise and disturb the spatial experience, but instead is an independent experience that only activates its own space.” Drawing inspiration from classical Greek motifs, he designed a piece that embodies rhythmic repetition, creating a sense of calm and elegance.
FSC-CERTIFIED WOOD
Crafted from FSC-certified wood, the Cutter Bench reflects a commitment to sustainability, ensuring minimal waste in production. Niels Hvass elaborates, “Standard measurements of raw timber have been taken into account, so material wasted is absolutely minimised.” The intricate finger joints not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the bench but also contribute to its durability, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship involved.
With its minimalist design, calm expression and emphasis on quality, the Cutter Bench continues to be a beloved staple in modern interiors, bringing both beauty and practicality to any space. As the original Cutter Bench now reaches 25 years, Fritz Hansen is marking the milestone anniversary by releasing the original 160cm Cutter Bench version in teak which is suitable for use both inside and outdoors.
