The Glass design by Mia Lagerman for Them Objects

Mia Lagerman Wins Design of the Year 2025 for THE GLASS by Them Objects

The handmade glassware consists of three pieces manufactured at a small Swedish glassworks using 100% recycled glass.

The design employs material thickness and asymmetric shapes to emphasize the blurry properties of glass. The manufacturing process creates distorted refracted light effects, while each piece features a sturdy stem supporting a delicate cup.

Them Objects is a collection of hand-crafted furniture and objects conceived and made by Swedish designer Mia Lagerman. The studio explores new typologies based on classic references while questioning conventional design approaches. Each piece combines understated expression with proportional play, rigorous forms with organic details, creating functional objects with distinctive character.

THE GLASS family demonstrates Lagerman’s approach to materials and form. The asymmetric construction plays with transparency and light, functioning decoratively on tables or ergonomically in hand. The recycled glass production at a Swedish glassworks aligns with Them Objects’ commitment to craft-based manufacturing methods.

The Design Awards 2025 recognition from Bo Bedre highlights THE GLASS within contemporary Scandinavian design. The award acknowledges both material innovation through recycled glass use and formal exploration through asymmetric shaping.
