Finnish designer Ilkka Suppanen has created the Giunto Chair in collaboration with Ralph Pucci
Made from plasterglass, the chair carries the hand of master sculptor Michael Evert on its surface — a gesture retained through molding and designed for serial production.
Plasterglass gives the Giunto Chair an unusual duality: precision of form alongside a surface that reads as individually hand-shaped.
Each chair appears unique while remaining a manufactured object. This tension — between the singular and the repeatable — is central to the design concept.
The chair’s surface preserves Evert’s sculptural touch, making craft visible within an industrial process. Dimensions are 23.25″ W × 20.5″ D × 29.5″ H with an 18″ seat height. Weight is 25 lbs.
Suppanen is known for material exploration across industrial design, furniture, lighting, and glass sculpture. He was a founding member of Snowcrash (1997–2003), the Finnish collective that challenged conventional Scandinavian design by introducing lightweight materials and integrating technology into furniture. He now divides his time between studios in Helsinki and Milan.
