Carin Panton on Verner Panton at Design Post Köln

In the year Verner Panton would have turned 100, his daughter Carin Panton will speak about his life and work at Design Post Köln. Her talk, “Verner Panton – designing with imagination, colour and form”, takes place on the Flokk stand on Wednesday 28 October at 14:00, during ORGATEC and idd cologne 2026. The talk is in English and open to all.

The talk

“The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination,” Verner Panton once said. Carin Panton’s presentation follows that idea through her father’s work, from colour and form to the complete interiors he designed as single, immersive environments. The talk is one of several events marking the Verner Panton centenary across 2026.

Spiegel Panels by Verner Panton for Offecct

Carin Panton’s appearance coincides with Offecct‘s re-release this year of the Spiegel Panels, a licensed Panton design produced in collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG. Panton first created the panels for his 1969 interiors at the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg, one of his most ambitious projects, where ceiling, walls, furniture and lighting were conceived as one integrated whole.

The 2026 version is made in PET felt and comes in three heights — 10, 24 and 47 cm — for ceiling mounting, with the low panel also available for walls. Beyond their geometric character, the panels work as acoustic elements, with the highest version reaching sound absorption class A. The Spiegel Panels are on show in Flokk’s exhibition at Design Post.

Flokk’s exhibition, “Making room for people”, runs from 27 to 31 October at Design Post Köln, opposite the Koelnmesse. The installation concept was developed by Norwegian design studio Hunting & Narud, treating comfort, acoustics, colour and material as one connected system across settings for focus, meetings and rest.

New on show is Profim Lunea, a modular sofa system launched in Europe on 5 October that scales in 10 cm steps to fit walls and niches like built-in seating. Magdalena Borowiec, Marketing Director at Profim, presents Lunea on Tuesday 27 October at 15:30. Profim also previews the new Unelo design and highback modules for the Revo sofa system ahead of their 2027 launches. Offecct shows a limited 25th anniversary edition of Alfredo Häberli’s Solitaire chair, and Connection presents Terrain, a modular seating system in BioPur® foam.
