Furniture of the Year 2024 – The Able Chair from Blå Station
Sköna hem has named the Able chair from Blå Station as the Furniture of the Year 2024. The chair is a collaboration between designers Stefan Borselius, Thomas Bernstrand, and Johan Lindau.
Key points:
-
Able is designed for both public and private environments
-
The chair is sustainable, adaptable, and fully recyclable
-
Inspired by the classic director’s chair, Able is equally suitable for home and office use
-
The development process took two years with a focus on details and functionality

The three designers behind Able are characterized by their curiosity, innovative ideas, and passion for details. Their design is often marked by a playful touch and a sense of timing, which is evident in many of their previous creations over the past 25 years.
The jury’s motivation: “Here, the designer has started from the function, but not at the expense of comfort, and Able is so much more than a chair. The intricate system with various threads makes it easy to adapt the furniture according to needs, add wheels or change seat height, mix colors and materials, and get an individual piece of furniture that is also completely recyclable – and updatable. A small masterpiece entirely in the spirit of Blå Station.”
Producer: Blå Station Materials: Powder-coated steel, tumbled zinc, oak, canvas fabric, leather, and more.
