Alexander Lervik — FRAGILE
17.12.2022 — 28.01.2023
The table ”Fragile Opposites” and the chair ”Fragile Senses” are unique objects designed by Alexander Lervik for Unikat Gallery.
The stone furniture is symbolic in several ways, and the contrasts of the materials are in focus. The time we live in now is the most sensitive period since the days of the Cold War. In the table, the 400-kilogram boulder rests on top of the fragile glass. It is a metaphor for our strange reality, where the fate of the entire world depends on thin, fragile agreements between countries. The glass’s reflections and change of color depending on the viewing angle reinforce this feeling of unreality and that depending on how you look at it, there can be hope and despair in the same reality.
