Finnish designer Antti Kotilainen has introduced Maia for Martela—a modular seating system that combines rounded forms with ergonomic comfort.

The family includes sofa modules, bench, and armchair options with flexible upholstery choices, designed to adapt to diverse workspace environments.

Maia’s balanced proportions create an inviting atmosphere suitable for offices, learning spaces, and common areas.

“When designing the Maia series, my goal was to find a balance between relaxed comfort and minimalist lines. I wanted to give the modules a refined, rounded shape so that they would fit together naturally—whether it was a small two-person island or a large ensemble dominating the entire space. It was of the utmost importance to me that the sofa allows the space to breathe.

I see Maia as a living part of the interior design. Thanks to its modularity, it’s easy to modify and expand even later on, making it a long-lasting and adaptable sofa collection for a variety of needs. With the choice of fabrics and colours, everyone can define the sofa’s character—either as part of a balanced whole or as a powerful focal point in the room.”
