In 2002, Kasper Salto introduced the eye-catching Bone Table, named after its sculptural, cross-positioned legs, which seem to support the glass top almost invisibly.

Today, furniture manufacturer OneCollection is relaunching the table in a new version, replacing the aluminum frame with solid wood.

Kasper Salto, designer of the Bone Table, says:

“The idea for the legs comes from an old trick where three matches are placed in a special way, locking them together. This creates an incredibly strong construction that remains stable even under significant pressure, which fascinated me.”

He adds that the round table naturally fosters a sense of equality—no one sits at the head, and everyone meets at eye level. This makes it ideal for both meetings and dinner gatherings, where conversation can flow freely and uninterrupted.

Since 2002, Kasper Salto has envisioned a version of the table with a wooden frame, but producing it requires advanced milling machinery capable of handling particularly long pieces. He is therefore pleased that OneCollection, with its specialized woodworking facilities in Ringkøbing and Vejen, has both the equipment and the skill set to take on the task.

The Bone Table is crafted at OneCollection’s own workshop in Ringkøbing, Denmark, and is available in solid FSC-certified oak, ash, and walnut. On the new version, the frame is fitted with solid, hand-turned feet in either aluminum or brass, allowing the material combination to be tailored.

The Bone Table is being relaunched as both a dining and conference table with a diameter of 160 cm, as well as a coffee table with a diameter of 100 cm. It is available through all OneCollection and House of Finn Juhl retailers.

About Kasper Salto

Kasper Salto is one of Denmark’s leading designers and has collaborated with some of the country’s most renowned furniture manufacturers throughout his career. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Furniture Prize in 2003, the Engelhardt Memorial Grant in 2005, and the Finn Juhl Prize in 2010.

Salto trained as a cabinetmaker before continuing his design education at the Royal Danish Academy and Artcenter College of Design in Switzerland. He worked for several years with renowned designer Rud Thygesen and lectured at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1996. Many also know him as a judge in the Danish television program ”The Next Danish Classic” (”Danmarks næste klassiker”).
