Yrjö Kukkapuro (1931-2025)
The Finnish design world has lost one of its most significant influencers, professor Yrjö Kukkapuro. His work has left an indelible mark on both domestic and international design.
Kukkapuro’s long career was an exceptional combination of artistic vision, functionality, and ergonomics. His iconic furniture pieces are not only masterpieces of aesthetics and comfort but also examples of timeless design that lasts from generation to generation.
His legacy lives on in every piece of furniture he designed – objects that are stories, experiences, and design history.
At Modeo, we have had the pleasure of being part of this story. We have had the opportunity to collaborate with Kukkapuro in product development and the re-release of his products. Through these projects, we got to know him not only as a great figure in design but also as a warm, dedicated, and uncompromising visionary.
We thank and honor Yrjö Kukkapuro for his life’s work. His vision and passion for design will continue to inspire us.
Our warm thoughts and condolences to his loved ones.
