Helene Tiedemann Play Table for Ihreborn – Steel Plates Shaped Like Plectrums
Swedish designer Helene Tiedemann has created the Play table for Jonas Ihreborn AB, the furniture manufacturer based in Värnamo, Sweden.
The design is constructed from thin steel sheet, with a form language drawing on the shapes of plectrums and boomerangs.
The combination gives the table a light, animated quality suited to both residential and contract environments.
The table belongs to the broader output of Tiedemann’s long-standing relationship with Ihreborn, a third- generation furniture company whose production is carried out entirely in Värnamo using locally sourced materials and suppliers. The company focuses on furniture with a distinct character and clear function for public and semi-public settings.
Helene Tiedemann studied Industrial Design Engineering at Central St. Martins School of Art and Design in London, and holds a postgraduate qualification in architecture from KTH, Stockholm. Her practice covers furniture and product design, as well as interior and exhibition design. She has designed for Ihreborn, David Design, Iittala, Asplund and Orrefors, among others.
