The residential courtyards in the Östern block in Sundbyberg have recently been inaugurated — the very place where the idea for the Island furniture series by Färg & Blanche first emerged.
In close collaboration with Topia Landscape Architects, Färg & Blanche have contributed to shaping the courtyards, with the site-specific artwork L’Arbre à lune — Moon Tree — as a central element.
Framed by greenery, spaces for meeting, play and art are brought together into a cohesive whole.
The Island furniture group, including tables and benches in various configurations, follows the site’s organic forms and challenges the conventional rectilinear picnic table. Variations in width and shape create a more playful composition, inviting different ways of sitting and gathering.
