Swedish manufacturer Mitab has introduced Edit, a modular sofa system designed by John Astbury.
The collection combines architectural structure with soft upholstery, intended for both workplace and hospitality environments.
Astbury developed Edit around the concept of essential form.
The system features a distinctive base that provides visual continuity across configurations, from compact two-seat arrangements to extended lounge installations. Clean geometry frames generous cushioning, balancing formal precision with comfort.
“With Edit, we wanted to create a modular system that feels like a singular piece of architecture rather than a collection of parts,” says John Astbury. “It’s about finding that perfect balance between a strict exterior and a welcoming interior.”
The modular construction allows specification for diverse spatial requirements. Components connect to form linear sequences, corner arrangements and freestanding islands. Each configuration maintains proportional consistency through the unified base design.
Edit is manufactured at Mitab’s production facility in Tranås, Sweden. The family-owned company continues its commitment to local craftsmanship and quality control throughout the manufacturing process.
